BIRDY

The young English singer says that she is shy. But her songs have
captivate young people  all over the world.




Birdy is an interesting and unique singer. Shes only 16 years old, but her voice is mature and haunting. Birdy is shy but when she plays concerts she is confident and carismatic. She has been at the top of the charts with her own style of music: folk piano ballads...not typical pop music!

THE PERFECT NAME:

"Birdy" is a nickname. Her real name is Jasmine. When she was a baby she would open her mouth wide for food...just like a little bird. As Jasmine grew up. her family called her Birdy. It was the perfect nickname for aspiring singer!


YOUNG TALENT:

Birdy started learning piano at home when she was just seven years old. At age eight, she began writing songs and singing them to her family. Then, at age twelve, she won a talent contest after performing her own song, "So Be Free". She won the under- 18s category and the Grand Prize, agains 10,000 other competitors.


SCHOOL AND MUSIC:

After the competition, Birdy got a record contract. She made a cover version of the single "Skinny Love" when she was 14, and it became her first hit. She then recorded cover versions of other songs for her first album, Birdy. 
Birdy oly wrote one original song on the album because she needed time to concentrate on her school.




In my opinion she has a really nice voice!
